Portable Gramps – Genealogy in your Pocket

(Eine deutsche Version dieses Eintrags gibt es hier) I’ve created a portable version of Gramps, the free open-source genealogy software. This will allow you to use it on any pc without any requirements (beside an USB port). This one is based on the current Windows version of Gramps 3.1.1.

Usually it does require an installed Python and GTK environment, but this portable version brings it own environment.

Ongame2TM Updated [english]

I've updated the converter to version 1.8, fixing a bug affection most non-english Windows. The local month name was used instead of the english month name, making October tournaments invisible in TM. Please drop me a line if there are any other problems left! The new version is available at the download section.

Ongame2Tourneymanager converter [english]

Ongame2TM I was surprised when I noticed, that quite a few people seemed to like and use my Ongame2Tourneymanager SNG converter. A number of forum postings, web site comments and e-mails made me have another look at the software. Please note, that I will now use my own blog for upcoming releases, so check it from time to time or subscribe to my feed. For now I did put the latest version 1.7 into the download section. It's working ok for me, so you should try it. Some people reported problems that I will have a look at. That might take a few days though, as I need their assistance. Should you have any suggestions, feel free to contact me.

Songbird and Pidgin flying together [english]

pidgin Ok, I really like my Songbird (aside from it's strong usage of memory and cpu and the current inability to write mp3 tags). I want the song currently playing in my Songbird written into my Pidgin status message. Should be possible, right? It is! See the screenshot for the result (please note that the status boxes at the bottom are created by a Pidgin plugin, more details on that later...). It's not possible without a little effort, but all you need is a plugin for each of the two applications. Nothing tricky, let me walk you through the settings.
